DOG TUFF™ Grass 70 Count Plug Tray

DOG TUFF™ Grass is an incredible low growing turf that requires a fraction of the water compared to traditional lawns. It is a very fine strain related to Bermuda grass that has very thin and soft leaves that are loved by both dogs and bare feet! DOG TUFF™ Grass is unique in that it will not pollinate itself or go to seed. For this reason it takes special propagation by hand and only comes in 70 count plug trays. These plugs are planted spaced apart and will fill in to form a dense vibrant turf.  You can plant it well into summer as it thrives in hot weather! Does very well exposed, and grows great between sidewalks and streets in the notorious and hard to maintain "Hell strips".

Each Tray will spread to cover 48 square feet at the recommended 10 inch spacing.

DOG TUFF™ Grass is a warm season grass. The earliest planting is best done close to or after you last frost date. This is mid May in the Denver area

Summer is a great time to plant as it loves hot weather.

-Can handle light traffic 6 to 8 weeks after planting

-Make sure to keep plugs wet after you receive them.

-Requires at least 6 hours of full sun in your planted area.

-Make sure to kill all existing grass and weeds as they are hard to get rid of later.

-Rototill in 2 to 3 inches of compost,  and 1 and 1/2 half inches of pea gravel

-Sprinkle organic fertilizer

-Plant 10 inches apart

-Sprinkle "Preen Garden" to help prevent weeds from germinating.

(The other formulas can have other herbicides and may harm DOG TUFF™ Grass!!)

Water frequently

-2 times a day for the first couple of weeks

-At least once a day after that

-Slowly taper down to a few times a week by the end of the summer

Year 2

Water once a week when active and growing.  

Year 3

During the growing months try experimenting with watering ever second or third week, or even less.
